A Shisha Pen, also called E-Shisha, Hookah Pen or E-Hookah, is a very popular product, which was designed to replace the traditional water pipe.
What is the difference to the E cigarette?
First we should put everything briefly into a certain context, Shisha tobacco (in Arabic "Mu'assel", which means "contains honey") is a mix of dried tobacco leaves, molasses and mostly vegetable glycerineThe same product that is often used in E Liquides generates a lot of steam. To give the tobacco a flavour, additives such as fruit, herbs, mint or other spices are also often used.
Shisha is traditionally smoked in pubs or bars, where it is put into a hookah, with glowing coals on top. The steam/smoke is inhaled through long hoses, with the steam/smoke first passing through a water bath to cool down. The advantage of this is that you can inhale such large amounts of steam/smoke. Mostly the pipe is smoked by several people at the same time.
Is shisha tobacco bad or not?
There is a lot of confusion and false information about the health risks of smoking shisha tobacco. Some people say it is much less harmful than smoking traditional tobacco cigarettes, but that's just not true, because everything that is burned spreads toxins again. You could say that the smoke first goes through the water and is therefore filtered, but that's only partly true. Smoking shisha tobacco is undisputedly harmful.
When the electronic cigarette came onto the market, the Shisha Pen was also introduced as a hookah smoke alternative.
How does a Shisha Pen work?
A Shisha Pen works in exactly the same way as an E cigarette. A battery heats the Atomizer element and this in turn heats the E Liquid again. Now comes the difference. E cigarettes are sold together with the nicotine-containing E Liquids, whereas Shisha Pens usually contain no nicotine, and less often tobacco flavours are used, but they are again more often used with a fruit, berry, mint or another foreign tobacco flavour.
The term "Shisha Pen" is rarely used for larger refillable devices. A Shisha Pen is usually smaller, not refillable, and is usually thrown away after use. The Shisha Pen is also different from the exterior, available in several colors, so much more striking than an E cigarette.
What's the Shisha Pen for?
In the early days there was a sales argument that the Shisha Pen had a more powerful battery than a comparable E cigarette, which meant that a Shisha Pen could produce a much larger cloud of steam. Since the introduction of the Sub Ohm E cigarette, this residue has been made up to a large extent. What has remained is the cultural difference between the two devices.
