What are Liquids?
The so-called liquid or e-liquid is the liquid to be evaporated in an electronic cigarette. The vapor produced gives the user the feeling of smoking without inhaling burning plant parts, as is the case when smoking normal cigarettes. Liquids are available with or without nicotine, while the taste is usually produced with the aid of food flavors.
The basic elements of a liquid are usually the following:
- Propylene glycol (E 1520)
- Glycerol (E 422)
- Water

How is e-Liquid created?
To mix a liquid, two elements are needed: the base and the flavor.
The base consists of either propylene glycol (PG) or vegetable glycerine (VG). Propylene glycol is responsible for the transport of the aromas, their intensity and the production of steam. The addition of vegetable glycerine makes this steam more stable, fuller and gentler.
Basically, both PG and VG are present in the base, only the mixing ratio of both can vary and determines whether the final product is listed as PG liquid or VG liquid. As far as flavours are concerned, the choice is almost limitless and this is added to the base last to obtain a steam-ready liquid.
What is the mixing ratio between base and flavours?
The mixing ratio depends exclusively on one's own preferences. The intensity of the aroma can be moderate to very strong, with correspondingly high or low use. Full tobacco taste without nicotine - is that possible?
The tobacco aroma responsible for the taste is produced from the leaves of the tobacco plant that naturally contain nicotine, which means that even if you extract this substance during the manufacturing process, trace elements will always remain in the aroma, but before you turn away from e-liquid, these trace elements are so small that they can go completely unnoticed.
To support this statement with concrete figures, here is an example: If an E-Liquid with 15% aroma is produced from the tobacco plant, the extraction of nicotine would leave less than one sixth of it in the aroma at the end. This corresponds to a nicotine content of 0.025%, which is so low that it is insignificant.
